X Factor 2012 winner James Arthur has revealed he can’t wait to start writing his debut album.
In his first live interview since winning the X Factor last night, James Arthur vowed to release his first album as soon as possible and has said it will all be his own material.
He told Lorraine and Aled on ITV1’s Daybreak this morning: “The statistics about people winning the X Factor I am not going to take much notice of.
“I’m not going to do much waiting around – I’ve got a lot of material ready to go now and as soon as I can get in the studio I will get my stuff out and it will be all of my own material.”
Following a night of celebrations Lorraine asked if he had slept a wink and the winner hinted that she might be right: “Maybe… I definitely haven’t had the most sleep I’ve ever had!”
On the moment he found out he had pipped runner up, Jahmene Douglas, to the post last night: “It hasn’t sunk in yet… I was very overwhelmed and I think that’s why my reaction was so still. I couldn’t quite believe it. I actually thought they said Jahmene!”
On singing with mentor Nicole Scherzinger in the final, James added: “It was phenomenal singing with my mentor. She is a megastar and as an aspiring singer its kind of what you dream of.”
