The Voice UK star Nathan James is seen auditioning for ITV1′s new series Superstar tonight.
The show follows Lord Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s search for a new performer to play the lead role in his Jesus Christ Superstar musical.
23 years old Nathan James from Reading is a rocker at heart and hopes to impress the judges with his vocal talents after being booted off of The Voice.
None of the coaches turned around for him on that show, and he’s determined to make an impression on Superstar[/tag].
He sings a unique rock version of ‘Show Me Heaven’ by Maria McKee that impresses the judges.
“He looks like Joss Stone with a beard” says Melanie
“Justin Lee Collins?” asks Jason
“No Joss Stone” smiles Melanie.
Also trying out for the role is 32 year old Matthew Casson from Liverpool who runs a legal business.
“I’ve got no professional background or training, just a love of the stage and being a big show off” he admits. “I think my modern take on Jesus is that he would work in the media, I’m surprisingly Zen today”
Matthew sings ‘Blaze of Glory’ by Bon Jovi – is this enough to impress the judges?
Superstar airs tonight at 7:25PM on ITV1 and tomorrow at 8PM.
