The Voice UK 2012 live tour could be cancelled after low ticket sales, it has been claimed today.
A live arena tour for the show was announced back when 11 million viewers were tuning into the show, but a decline in interest has seen the concert promoters struggling to shift tickets.
The Daily Mirror report that some performances could now be cancelled, with few fans sticking up the £40 fee per ticket.
“Do they really think that they can sell 160,000 tickets at £40 a pop when they couldn’t even keep people watching on the telly for free?” one supposed expert told the newspaper. “Everyone is anticipating huge problems with this.”
They added: “Britain’s Got Talent had to admit defeat and pull the plug on the live tour in 2011 because the tickets hadn’t sold – and their ratings were higher and more consistent than The Voice’s.”
The live tour features all of the final eight contestants – Leanne Michell, Bo Bruce, Vince Kidd, Max Milner, Becky Hill, Tyler James, Jaz Ellington and Ruth Brown – and starts in September at Bournemouth’s International Centre.
There are also dates at London’s O2 Arena and Manchester’s MEN complex.
Tickets currently remain on sale from ticketmaster.co.uk.
