Ruth Brown kicked off The Voice UK 2012 semi finals tonight with an emotionally charged performance.
The 21-year-old ended the performance of The Voice Within by Christina Aguilera in tears, with host Holly remarking: “You didn’t just sing that, you lived it.”
Ruth added: “If it wasn’t for the voice I don’t know where I’d be because I really miss my dad.”
Will.i.am added: “I think your dad is proud of you, you sung with so much fire… it was super super dope.”
Danny O’Donoghue commented: “An incredibly emotional performance. That was an amazing performance, you found the voice within, I think you’re going to walk into the final”
Jessie J said: “I’ve got to know you in the last few weeks, there are moments where you sing where your voice fills up every bit of the air, it’s so rich. I can’t wait to be coming to your sell out shows.”
Finally, Ruth’s coach Sir Tom Jones said: “When you have a Voice like that, the personality comes across so strong.”
