The Voice UK coaches refuse to be nasty!

Coaches (The Voice UK)

The Voice UK coaches have reportedly been put off by requests from show bosses to be more mean with their comments.

As ratings for the Beeb series fall, with less than 7 million viewers watching last Sunday’s latest results show, producers fear that the ‘nice’ image is ruining the show.

Many viewers have deserted the new series after just a few weeks, with the programme losing over 3 million viewers.

And the blame has been put on the ‘boring’ positive comments given by the panel.

But coaches Jessie J, Will.i.am, Danny O’Donoghue and Sir Tom Jones fear that the show will turn into another X Factor if the format changes.

A supposed source said: “All four coaches were expressly assured this was going to be a positive, upbeat show where they would not have to slag off contestants under any circumstances.

“Then ratings fall off a cliff and they’re blamed for being too soft. It’s not fair. They’ve only done as they were told.”

Speaking to the Daily Mail, a BBC source added: “All along we’ve made a big deal about The Voice being a different type of talent show, so we can’t suddenly change the formula.”

The Voice UK live shows continue on Saturday on BBC One.
