Hannah Berney became the first artist to be eliminated from Team Danny on the Voice UK results show this evening.
The Exeter Uni cheerleader was criticised by Jessie J on yesterday’s live show, with the ‘Domino’ hitmaker complaining that Hannah’s troupe of dancers distracted from the vocals.
After the public voted, Aleks Josh, Bo Bruce and David Julien were saved, leaving Hannah and Max Milner in the bottom two.
“As I said before – no one from my team or anybody’s team deserves to get knocked out after showing such heart, after showing such growth in such a short number of weeks. They’ve all come on in leaps and bounds in varying different ways,” Danny said as the results were announced.
Deciding between the pair, The Script frontman continued: “Max – when I turned around for you I was in a bidding war with Will, and seeing what you did, you were standing there playing guitar I was seeing a lot of myself there too. You’ve shown so many sides of you throughout the course of this, it genuinely has been a pleasure being your mentor all this while.
“Hannah, from day one we’ve always been a collaborative team, we’ve always worked on everything together. That’s what I’ve loved. This show is just showcasing what amazing people are out there. The Voice itself has uncovered so many amazing artists that I don’t think the UK music scene is going to be the same again. I really don’t. The way you did that mash up, the way you tipped your hat to the old, to the new – that’s what the industry needs, people thinking in a unique way.”
But despite heaping on praise on both, Danny had to make a decison between the pair.
He said: “The person that I’m going to save is Max Milner.”
After the news, Hannah said “This has probably been the best year of my life, I turned twenty one, I’ve sung for the Queen, I’ve done live television.”
