The Voice UK host Holly Holly Willoughby may have got plenty of screentime at the weekend, but it seems many viewers would have preferred to have missed her.
The former Dancing On Ice host’s role on the new BBC One series hasn’t had a great start, after getting less than four minutes on screen during the auditions.
And while she took centre stage at the live shows, Holly seemed to struggle, even referring to Sir Tom Jones as “Tim” at one point.
Writing on forums, viewers complained: “I am sorry but she couldn’t even get Sir Tom Jones name right.” They added: “She was shouting more than usual and she asked some very strange questions that put the coaches on the spot. It was very awkward.”
Another said: “Thought if one of them was going to be all over the place it’d be Reggie, because he’s not done much live TV stuff, or at least nowhere near as much as Holly. You wouldn’t have thought she’s on live TV near enough every weekday from the amount of times she messed up.”
Others branded the blonde beauty “bland” and “repetitive”, while many agreed her chats with the coaches were “awkward”.
A third added: “I’m sorry but for someone who is supposedly being paid £400,000 to present this show she should be perfect, nerve free and people should stop making excuses for her.”
But some were in support of Holly.
One user wrote online : “I was pleasently suprised. I thought she was really good, supportive of the acts, her voice has a lovely tone, I liked her. [sic]“.
