Sophie Griffin has become the first Voice UK contestant to be eliminated from Team Will.i.am in tonight’s results show.
The teenager from Northern Ireland was in the bottom two with Joelle Moses after the public saved Frances Wood, Tyler James and Jaz Ellington.
It was down to coach Will.i.am to decide which of Sophie and Joelle to save.
“This is like the hardest thing, right, because both of you guys are amazing talents,” he started.
Making his decision, Will said: “Sophie, you’re special. You’ve learned so much in two months, in two months. It took me freakin’ 10 years to learn what you learnt in two months. But somebody has to go home. So – I promise you, me and Dante and Apple, my best friend, are going to be here for you whenever you need us. But, for the show, I’m going to take Joelle.”
After the news, Sophie said: “This has been the best experience of my whole entire life.
“I’ve learnt so much, and I’ve worked with some of the best people in the whole entire world. I’m really gutted, but thank you so much for everything… I couldn’t have had a better coach, it’s been a dream come true. He’s just let me be myself and I love him. He’s been amazing.”
The Voice UK continues next week on BBC One as Team Jessie and Team Danny’s acts perform for the first time.
