Gabrielle Omar and Stephen Brady were both fired from The Apprentice 2012 this evening in a shock double exit.
The pair were working with Ricky Martin on a task to negotiate deals on luxury experiences, from beauty treatments to meals at top class restaurants.
Stephen was project manager of Sterling, having previously declared to Lord Sugar he’d be able to win.
But in the boardroom, Jade Nash triumphed over him.
Leading Phoenix, Jade managed to make over £14,000 with her discounted deals, while Sterling had total sales of less than half that.
In the boardroom, Lord Sugar’s attention quickly turned to Gabrielle and Stephen, who had worked together but still only managed to negotiate deals that made just £350. But Ricky wasn’t immune from a telling off from the boss, after spending an hour at a restaurant and failing to get a deal instead of visiting a health spa.
“Ricky – I must admit you did sell some stuff here but also you made, what I consider, a belligerent decision not to go to the spa, which I think was a very very serious mistake,” Lord Sugar said.
The boss went on: “Stephen – you leapt across that table, virtually, saying ‘please make me the Project Manager. I will win’, and you haven’t won, it’s as simple as that. There was an air of panic that I can detect…
“Gabrielle – I don’t think you contributed much in this task at all, to be honest with you. Over the course of the ten weeks I’ve observed you, I’ve observed you in this boardroom, and I’ve got to weigh up who has a chance of being my business partner.”
Firing the latest candidate, Lord Sugar concluded: “I’d just like to reiterate that it’s the person who I feel is most responsible for the lack of contribution in the task that leaves, and on that basis I’ve got to say that Gabrielle, as nice a person that you are, it is with regret that – You’re Fired.”
Lord Sugar wasn’t finished though, telling the two remaining candidates, “There’s no smoke without fire. Stephen – you asked me for the chance to be the Project Manager, I gave you the chance. You told me you were going to win, you didn’t win, you lost. I think on that basis I’ve made a decision, and that is that – You’re also Fired.”
It left Ricky alone and the sole remaining member of team Sterling to return to the house.
As she was driven away in a black cab, Gabrielle commented: “Plans for me now are really just to get to grips with the businesses I already have and to make them a success and show everyone that behind this smile there is a brain and I’m going to go far in life.”
Meanwhile in another black cab, Stephen reflected: “I only wish I could turn back time and if I could I would have stuck to my gut feeling.”
