Superstar finalist Nathan James acting like a diva backstage!

Nathan James

Superstar finalist Nathan James is reportedly acting like a diva behind the scenes, even making one production member cry.

The Sun report that the rock singer ranted at a junior member of the team after he gave away more tickets to pals than he was allowed.

And the newspaper claims that 24-year-old Nathan has also been very particular with the show’s hair & make up department, telling them not to touch his long locks.

“He must think he already is Jesus to be getting away with this sort of stuff,” a source told the newspaper. “He is acting how a small man thinks a big star acts, but really he is making a proper show of himself – no big celebrities act like that. It’s unprofessional.

“You don’t see Lord Lloyd-Webber screaming and throwing his toys out of the pram.”

An onlooker revealed how he reduced on member of the show’s backstage crew to tears: “He had exceeded his ticket allocation and brought extra guests.

“It wasn’t the first time he pulled that stunt but this time seats couldn’t be found so he humiliated a member of staff and reduced her to tears.

“It was unsightly to watch and everyone is horrified.”

Nathan is one of five finalists remaining in Superstar, which continues tonight on ITV1.

    Thank goodness Nathan’s been eliminated.
I’ve seen three live performances of Superstar, including the fist show in the West End staring Paul Nicholson, one many years later also in London, and an up-to-date version, where modern day Israeli style soldiers replaced the Roman army, about three years ago, this one was at El Teatro Falla in Cadiz (in Spanish obviously). I’ve also watched my video of the film version many times.
And one thing was clear right from the start of the show – Nathan James was never, ever going to be convincing in the role of Jesus.

BEN has everything to make a very believable and convincing Jesus Christ Superstar.(I’d probably even be prepared to go to the expense of flying over to the UK to see him perform in the show. The fact that he’s a fellow mak’em has nowt to do with my choice )

ROGER has a big brilliant voice and a lovely persona but his voice is more suited to Gospel or Las Vegas style shows (more in the Tom Jones style of performance)

RORY Likeable and talented performer but more suited to being a pop star, rather than a musical theatre leading man.

DAVID. After Ben, I think David could definitely be a good second choice.

Being so familiar with the show and the music, I really hope we get to hear the final four contestants perform their interpretation of some of the brilliant songs from the show. This will really give us confirmation as to whether or not our, so far, favourites are suitable to play such a powerful leading role in one of the best musical productions I’ve ever seen. The other one being West Side story.
