Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber has said that he’ll be working closely with the Superstar hopefuls.
The musical reality show starts later this month on ITV1, and Lloyd Webber insists it won’t just be a copy of The X Factor.
The series will follow the search for a new star to play the role of Jesus Christ in an arena adaption of Lloyd Webber’s musical Jesus Christ Superstar.
“Me and Simon are very different – like apples and oranges,” Sir Andrew said of the obvious comparisons.
He went on: “But I do like to get the best out of performers. I like to give them my best shot – then it’s down to them.
“I guess that’s where me and Simon differ slightly. I get involved to see if they’re OK.”
Explaining the decision to defect to ITV, Lloyd Webber told the Daily Star Sunday: “It’s like going back to work with old friends at ITV because the team there are the ones who first took my ideas on at the BBC years ago.
“They’ve wanted to work with me every since, so when my BBC contract ran out I decided to move.”
