Just two females auditioned for ITV1′s new reality show ‘Superstar’, and both have been rejected.
ITV and Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber had agreed to allow both men and women apply for the show, which will see one person picked to play the role of Jesus Christ in an arena adaption of the famous musical.
The decision led to some complaints, but the Daily Mail report that neither of the two female hopefuls made it to the final selection anyway.
“Searching for Jesus on a TV talent show is controversial enough before adding in a chance of a woman in the role,” a source told the newspaper.
They revealed “But Andrew and David eagerly watched both performances. One girl was so good Andrew has asked that she be put forward for another one of his shows.”
The series, hosted by Amanda Holden, begins on ITV1 next month.
