Up to half of the Strictly Come Dancing professionals could be axed this year in a big shake up of the show.
The Daily Mail report that BBC bosses want to bring new talent to the series when it hits screens this September.
“The line-up needs to be refreshed. But there’s a lot of discussion about exactly who will be invited back,” a source told the newspaper.
“The professionals on the U.S. version of the show are better — their skill level is higher and they are much more daring with their routines, too.”
The insider added that the Strictly judges were also backing the move.
They said: “Len and Bruno are also judges on the American show, and they have been sending a clear message back that there should be improvements made.”
It’s understood that popular dancers such as Brendan Cole and Anton du Beke will more than likely but safe, but those less known and less popular could be let go.
Yesterday the BBC appointed two new producers to oversee the production of the new series.
Strictly Come Dancing airs on BBC One this autumn.
