Strictly Come Dancing: Arlene Phillips hints she'll return to replace Alesha Dixon!

Arlene Phillips

Former Strictly Come Dancing judge Arlene Phillips has hinted she could be set to return to the show Alesha Dixon quit for Britain’s Got Talent.

Arlene, who was controversially replaced by Alesha in 2009, said her phone hadn’t stopped ringing since Alesha announced her departure last week.

The singer will be joining David Walliams, Amanda Holden and Simon Cowell on Britain’s Got Talent later this year. For Arlene it means the chance to return to the show.

“The Strictly thing was just starting to die down,” she told The Sun this week. “Having been asked about it every day for years, this Christmas and New Year I thought — heaven, it’s ending a bit. Maybe there is another life for me.

“Then this happened, and as soon as it did my phone hasn’t stopped ringing.”

She added: “I’ve not been able to breathe. It’s sad I have had to be quiet on Twitter because I love engaging with people through Twitter.”

However there have already been a few rumours linking others to the job, with Nicole Scherzinger even been tipped to join Strictly in the autumn.

Bookies on the other hand are backing Karen Hard, a former professional dancer on the show, to join the panel.

The BBC have yet to make any statements or hints as to who will be taking Alesha’s place, and with the show still nine months away from returning, it may be a while before we know!
