As the Strictly Come Dancing Final fast approaches, leading online betting comparison site www.oddschecker.com has looked at the odds across 23 bookmakers to confirm that popular McFly drummer Harry Judd is still the favourite to win the Strictly Come Dancing glitter-ball, with a best price 1/3 to win with a number of firms.
Judd, who has been one of the show favourites from the outset, with odds of just 11/4 after week one, hasn’t yet hit the perfect 40, but has scored 39 three times. The 25-year-old will face some tough competition from rivals Chelsee Healey and Jason Donovan in this week’s finale, who both secured perfect 40s in the semi-final show.
Second favourite, Chelsee Healey has seen the most dramatic shift in odds as the competition has progressed. The 23-year-old Waterloo Road actress, who received a perfect 40 following an impressive Paso Doble with dance partner Pasha Kovalev, was 18/1 to win the competition after the first week, a return of £180 on a £10 bet. Healey is now a best price 11/4, equivalent to a £27.50 return on a £10 bet.
The third finalist, Australian actor and singer Jason Donovan, who consistently topped both the judging and the bookies leader board for the first five weeks, is without doubt a talented performer, but he seems to lack the public support needed to win the competition. In the week before the semi-final, Donovan landed in the bottom two despite finishing third on the leader board after an impressive Foxtrot. Donovan’s odds have lengthened from 4/1 after the first show, to a best price 28/1 to win, ahead of this week’s final.
As highlighted by Jason Donovan’s lengthening odds despite securing a perfect 40, public support seems to be a key ingredient for success on Strictly Come Dancing. Harry Judd has received over 6,000 Strictly Come Dancing related tweets since the competition began, in comparison to Chelsee Healey who has received 1,333 tweets over the same time period, and Jason Donovan receiving just over 1000 tweets, which suggests the McFly drummer is a clear favourite in the eyes of the public.*
The Final will be aired live from Blackpool’s Tower Ballroom at 7pm on Saturday December 17th.
