Former soap stars Holly Valance and Anita Dobson topped the leader board on last night’s first Strictly Come Dancing 2011 show, which was watched by well over 7 million viewsers at 9PM on BBC One. Opening the show, Holly recieved praise from all of the judges and a score of 28 out of 40 for her cha-cha-cha.
Alesha Dixon raved: “‘You are a very good dancer, you look sensation and you’ve got the sexiness down. Your technique is already at a very high standard. You’re going to be sensational!”
It was a score Anita Dobson and partner Robin Windsor matched with their waltz, as Craigt Revel Horwood told them: “I thought that whole routine was gorgeous.”
Lulu and Brendan Cole’s fumbling left them at the bottom of the scoreboard, earning just 17 points. Craig remarked: “It was a complete dance disaster. You made it up from beginning to end.”
Tonight will see the remaining contestants – Jason Donovan, Nancy Dell’Ollio, Harry Judd, Chelsee Healy, Alex Jones, Edwina Currie and Rory Bremner – take to the dance floor.
No one will leave the show this weekend, but the scores will be carried forward to next week’s show, where they will be combined with a public vote.
