Dancing On Ice contestant Matthew Wolfenden has revealed how he originally turned down the chance to appear on the series two years ago.
The Emmerdale heart-throb, who is currently one of the bookies’ favourites to win, admitted he was “terrified” to sign up.
He explains to this week’s TV Buzz: “The thought of it terrified me, but you’ve got to push yourself sometimes.
“I’ve been in Emmerdale for around six years now. Me and Charley [Webb – Matthew’s fiancée, who plays Debbie in the soap] have always watched Dancing On Ice, and last year I suddenly thought: ‘Why not!’”
But even when Matt had signed the contract, he almost missed out on taking part in the live shows.
“When we started training before Christmas, I had so many injuries I didn’t think I was going to make it to week one of the live shows…I hurt from my big toe upwards, I was in absolute agony,” he adds.
Dancing On Ice 2012 continues tomorrow night on ITV1.
