Alcott, the British number one in her sport, sustained the injury during training in December 2010. She had titanium inserted in to the limb to reinforce it, but a broken nerve meant it was unable to respond properly to her brain signals. But the 29-year-old has told The Sun reckons she’ll be back in action very soon as her skating routines are helping her recover. She said: “The first time I got on the skates, it took me 40 minutes to find my inside edge. If it took me that long to ‘communicate’ downhill, it could be a disaster. “I’ve got all this metal in my right leg and the skating is giving me the chance to get that brain pattern working before I hit the slopes. “This could get me back to the sport I love. I’ve done three Winter Olympics and I’ve got one more in me.” However, she is concerned about losing weight on the ITV1 show, explaining: “When you’re a skier you need to maintain your weight to help your speed.”
Skiing ace Chemmy Alcott hopes she’ll be able to compete in one more Winter Olympics after Dancing On Ice helped her regain feeling in her fractured leg.
