No space trip for Britain's Got Talent 2012 winners

Jonathan and Charlotte

Britain’s Got Talent stars won’t be going on a rocket to perform in space, despite Simon Cowell’s original mad hat plans.

The music mogul had hoped to to blast this year’s winners into the atmosphere to perform live, but Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic have revealed that the plans are currently “on hold”.

Ashleigh and Pudsey had won the show on Saturday night, but the 17-year-old admitted she would’ve let runners up Jonathan and Charlotte take up the offer, having won herself £500,000 and a spot on the Royal Variety show.

But a spokesman said that it was currently “not possible” for the private flight program to fly people into space just yet.

Speaking to the Daily Star today, the spokesperson added: “It does remain an ambition of ours for the future.”

Maybe next year…
