Simon Cowell made a dig at The Voice UK on tonight’s Britain’ Got Talent live shows, insisting that a star needed more than good vocals.
The music mogul was talking to boy group The Mend as they performed on the first semi-final final.
He told them, to howls from Amanda Holden: “Being a star in the music business is more than just a Voice.”
He explained: “You gotta have charisma, you gotta have chemistry. You’ll have girls loving you.”
But Simon also praised the group – who performed a mash up of Cutting Crew’s I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight and Tinie Tempah’s Written In The Stars – on their voice too.
“I thought your choices of songs were brilliant,” he told the Manchester boy group. “There’s a gap in the market for you right now. We’ve had Take That, East 17, your vocals were brilliant.”
