BBC boss insists there's no rivalry between The Voice and Britain's Got Talent

BBC One boss Danny Cohen has said that there’s no rivalry between Britain’s Got Talent and The Voice UK.

The shows went head to head earlier this year when they both started on the same date, but the clash hurt the ratings of both shows.

For the past three weeks, there’s been no clashes, but the reality goliths will both air at the same time again on Saturday, during the final of BGT.

But despite press reports of arguments between the Beeb and ITV over the scheduling, BBC One controller insisted; “We want viewers to enjoy both shows”.

He told BBC’s Newsbeat: “I’m a fan of ITV’s entertainment shows. Simon Cowell and others have said very nice things about The Voice.

“I saw an interesting thing in one of the papers this week saying, ‘Saturday night TV is great at the moment and there are two great shows on.’

“I don’t think we should get too involved with rivalry or who’s beating who or who’s slightly ahead of who.”

Currently, both BGT and The Voice UK live shows will overlap for 15 minutes on May 12.

The Voice starts at 6:10PM, while The Britain’s Got Talent 2012 final airs from..
