Britain's Got Talent 2012 semi-finals to have backstage live stream!

Britain's Got Talent

Britain’s Got Talent really is becoming more like Big Brother, with a new mobile app allowing viewers to watch a backstage live stream.

The new release of the BGT app will include the chance for viewers to purchase access to live streaming from four exclusive backstage cameras which have been placed around the Britain’s Got Talent studio.

Users can purchase a series pass starting from £1.99 at the beginning of the live phase. The live streaming from the backstage cameras will be provided by Streaming Tank.

The new iPhone and iPad BGT app will also allow viewers to vote in next week’s live shows, with votes costing £1.49 for a bundle of three.

The Britain’s Got Talent app is currently available on iOS for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. Viewers can download the Britain’s Got Talent app for free from the UK Apple iTunes App Store where voting will be available from version 2.0 of the app onwards.

Bosses have also announced new ways to vote via any mobile phone, using Mobile Short Dial Codes. These allow UK mobile users to dial a short seven digit number to vote from their mobiles for a guaranteed fixed price of 50p per vote, regardless of mobile network provider.

Previously, when calling premium rate ‘09’ numbers from mobiles, calls cost considerably more than if calling from a BT landline with costs varying significantly from mobile network to network.

The introduction of Mobile Short Dial Codes means that viewers who vote from their UK mobile by this method will know what they are paying before they vote and will not have to wait until they receive their mobile bill. This solution was delivered in partnership with BT Agilemedia.

Rival show became one of the first reality shows in the UK to use the new codes when its live shows kicked off last Saturday.

As for the other voting platforms on Britain’s Got Talent, 15p from each vote via the app or via Mobile Short Dial Codes will go to the Royal Variety Charity, The Entertainment Artistes’ Benevolent Fund.
