Britain's Got Talent 2012: Malakai Paul inspired by Chris Brown, Neyo

Malakai - Britain's Got Talent 2012

Britain’s Got Talent 2012 star Malaki Paul has said he’s inspired by the likes of Chris Brown and Neo.

At just 9-years-old, Malaki is the youngest of this year’s hopefuls so far, but his music choice is diverse.

“My mum inspires me to sing. I also love Beyonce and Wretch 32, Neyo, Chris Brown, Alesha Keys and Michael Jackson,” he revealed. “I like singing big songs like ‘Listen’ and other ballads but I also like singing funky songs like Wretch 32′s ‘Tractor’. I like a big range of music.”

Speaking to ITV, Malakai explained why he chose to perform Listen for the judges at the weekend.

He replied: “I think it can show my voice. It’s a big song. It’s special to me cos the song says to me in the words ‘My time has come for my dreams to be heard’ so it makes me want to follow my dreams which are to win Britain’s Got Talent and to go on to be a recording artist and to sell albums and work with lots of other big artists like Beyonce.”

And despite suffering some stage fright during the try out, Malakai insisted that he would be fine if he makes the live shows on Saturday.

“If I get through to the next round I shouldn’t get nervous as the judges have now already heard my voice and gave me good comments,” he said.
