Chat show host The former face of This Morning features alongside Simon Cowell and Piers Morgan in never-before-seen footage from the show’s 2006 pilot, which will be screened for the first time in ITV1′s The Talent Show Story this weekend.
According to The Sun, one of the acts to try out for the trio was a man who had a cement mixer on his head. Fern apparently giggled her way through the performance, while Simon gave him a mark of three for presentation, adding: “But two of the marks were for the cement mixer.”
More successful auditions came from a ventriloquist and a boy dancer.
Amanda Holden eventually replaced Fern, while Paul O’Grady tried out as host – but Ant and Dec stepped in after he pulled out after a row with bosses.
You can see how Fern did on The Talent Show Story, tomorrow at 8.30pm on ITV1. Britain’s Got Talent returns for its sixth series in the Spring.
