Britain's Got Talent 2013: Magician James More impresses Simon Cowell

Penn & Teller

A magician finally managed to impress Simon Cowell on Britain’s Got Talent this weekend.

Talented street star James More had originally appeared on ITV series Penn and Teller: Fool Us last year, which saw magicians try to wow US stars Penn & Teller in order to win a trip to Las Vegas and a spot on their Stateside stage show.

James’ mastery, which combines magic with music and dance, didn’t quite manage to fool Penn and Teller, but Penn commented: “As good as the audience thinks it was, it was a little better than that.”

High praise indeed, but James went one better this weekend after he managed to get Simon Cowell to say something good about a magician on Britain’s Got Talent.

The music mogul has never been keen on such acts, and David Walliams quipped sarcastically as James prepared his audition: “You’re going to do magic? Simon LOVES magic!”

We’ll have to wait until the show airs to see just what tricks James pulled to get a yes from Simon, and if he managed to win over the other judges!

Meanwhile, it seemed that the BGT boss was in a good mood as the final auditions were filmed in Birmingham yesterday.

As talented variety acts flooded the stage, Simon gushed to one performer: “One of THE best acts I’ve seen through all of the auditions in terms of originality.”

BGT will kick off next month on ITV.
