Police had arrested an 18-year-old after he reportedly made racist comments about Big Brother’s Deana Uppal.
News&Star report that the youngster from Whitehaven, was arrested yesterday on suspicion of a racially-aggravated public order offence regarding the message, posted online over a week ago.
The newspaper reports that the suspect has since been released, with a file handed over to the CPS ahead of any possible charges being brought.
Ofcom has received some 1,000 complaints in the past two weeks over the apparent bullying of Deana, although there’s been nothing to suggest what’s happening in the house is based on race.
But housemate Caroline was given an official warning, after she branded fellow housemate Adam a “gorilla”.
The jibe saw yet more complaints to Ofcom, but the show’s producers insisted that they had dealt with it adequately.
The show’s executive producer warned: “There would be very serious consequences for Conor or for any housemate if they were to continue to use language that was unacceptable like that within the House.”
