Saturday and Sunday saw the launch of Lord Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s new series Superstar, but it’s failed to take off in the ratings.
Saturday’s opening audition episode averaged just 3.3 million, well down on the 5 million or so viewers previous series have got on ITV1.
Last night saw the successful auditionees whittled down to a final 30, but only 3.1 million decided to tune in, a worrying downwards trend for the series.
The show follows Lord Webber’s search for a new star to play the role in an arena adaption of his Jesus Christ Superstar musical.
This weekend will see the final 10 contestants revealed, who will then battle it out over a week of live shows, hosted by Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden.
ITV will no doubt be hoping that ratings pick up next week.
