The X Factor 2012 enjoyed its best ratings of the series last night, as the auditions came to an end.
An average audience of 9.7 million – including those who caught up on ITV1+1 – watched the final batch of try outs.
The last audition show, which featured an epic comeback from Carolynne Poole, peaked with over 11 million viewers.
Downtown Abbey’s return followed the X Factor, bringing in another 9 million strong audience for the channel.
Overall, this year’s X Factor auditions averaged 8.7 million viewers, down over two million people on last year’s 10.9 million average.
The X Factor 2012 continues next Saturday and Sunday with a bootcamp double bill.
