X Factor 2011: Little Mix think girl groups have been 'too sexy' in the past

X Factor winners Little Mix are well on their way to becoming popstars, and it seems they’ve already learned a key lesson: Being bitchy makes headlines! The girls only won the show a couple of days ago, but reckon they know where past girl groups have gone wrong.

With flop girl groups both on and off the show – including the likes of Belle Amie and Girls Can’t Catch – Little Mix think the problem is that the groups have been too sexy.

“In the past girlbands come on and portray themselves in a way that makes girls dislike them, like they’re too sexy. With us people can relate to us,” Jade said.

Speaking to The Sun, Perrie added: “If you’re happy wearing something or doing something but you’re worried what other people are going to say – you just need to get it out of your head.”

And hitting out at the ‘skinny culture’ in music, Jesy continued: “It’s about time that young girls can look at us and realise, ‘I don’t have to be really skinny, I don’t have to look this way to be successful’.

“A lot of people in the industry think you have to look a certain way and be a certain way. That’s what’s cool about us. We all look different and have our own unique style.

“And we’re all shapes and sizes.”

You’re no Girls Aloud just yet…
