Even the closest X Factor result in years couldn’t bring in the viewers to last night’s final at Wembley Arena last night, as the show ended its current series down some four million viewers on last year.
The show managed an average of 12.8 million viewers, boosted by a double performance from Coldplay, who made their first ever appearance on the show.
But the programme’s peak saw 15 million viewers, well done on the past two year’s 19 million figure peaks when Matt Cardle and Joe McElderry were crowned winner’s.
The last show however did manage to beat Strictly Come Dancing on BBC One, which logged 10.8 million viewers for its semi-final results.
