X Factor 2011 loses to Strictly again, sheds 3.6 million viewers to reach four year low

The X Factor 2011 continued its downhill spiral yesterday evening, shedding some 3.6 million viewers on last years equivalent show. The programme was beaten once again by Strictly Come Dancing, the third time this year after being on top since 2007.

An average of 10 million viewers tuned into the show, well down on last years 13.6 million audience and below the figures of the series in 2009 and 2008 too.

It was only slightly above the quarter finals back in 2007, sure to be worrying telly chiefs as the competition nears its climax.

Over on BBC One, Strictly Come Dancing – which clashed with the first 15 minutes of The X Factor – recorded a strong 10.6 million figure.
