X Factor 2011: Couple Margaret and Neil both fail to make it past the judges!

Margaret (X Factor 2011)

Husband and wife couple Margaret and Neil Sinclair both failed to make it past the judge son tonight’s X Factor after they each auditioned for the panel as separate solo ccts. The pair, who met on the internet, both share a passion of becoming stars.

“We’re married and we have been for three years,” they explained to Dermot before their audition. “We actually met through a dating agency. I’ve been searching for 23 years to find the right person and I found this lady.”

Margaret was first on stage, telling the judges: “I want to be a singer; I’ve always wanted to be a singer. I’m actually here with my husband as well. He’s going to sing after me… We met on internet dating; it was love at first sight to be honest.”

But her performance of Superstar by The Carpenters didn’t leave the judges all too impressed.

Tulisa said kindly: “I think you should keep the singing for you and your husband because it’s very sweet, just not to the ears.

However Margaret hit back: “I can assure you my singing teachers told me I sing really well, so I don’t take kindly to that criticism. I’m not as quiet as I look.”

Kelly insisted: “I’m going to be honest with you; I didn’t think it was a great audition.”

And Gary added: “I thought it was a very poor audition, and I think we’re going to vote right now. ”

With four nos for Margaret, could Neil do any better?

Well, no.

His version of Crocodile Rock recieved a similar response from the judges. Louis told him: “Neil, I don’t think singings for you at all. I think you should sing at home to each other. You’re definitely not what we’re looking for on the show.”

With another four nos, Neil joined Margaret as they both headed off back home, together, but not their way to bootcamp…
