X Factor’s only remaining judge Louis Wlash has claimed boss Simon Cowell’s bid to ‘sex up’ the show will ultimately ruin the format. According to sources close to the feuding music moguls, Louis is unhappy with changes to this year’s bootcamp format which have seen all night parties, binge drinking and sex.
We reported on the format changes earlier this week, with a source saying at the time: “Simon [Cowell] is determined to make this series a huge success, so the more outrageous the antics in the house, the better.
“It’s going be super stressful – some of them are definitely going to crack. They’ll be encouraged to talk about how they feel on camera, within earshot of the others.”
However Louis Walsh has apparently hit out at the formats, claiming they’ll make the show into a rip-off of Big Brother.
“Louis thinks the new format will make the programme more cantered around the singers’ personalities, rather than talent,” a source told Star magazine.
With acts like Wagner and Jedward in his categories in the past, it seems as though this change would suit Louis!
But the source continued: “Producers want scandal, sex and break ups. They know it will boost the ratings. The house will be one long party, filmed for the viewers’ amusement.
“Louis thinks it’s a family show and people don’t want to see singers jumping in and out of bed with each other.”
Meanwhile one of the rejected contestants at boot camp said: “They are trying to sex up the show, it was like Big Brother. Cameramen were running around the party looking for outrageous people as girls pulled their tops up.”
Bootcamp will air on ITV1 later this year.
